Your Tire Pressure Monitoring System Makes Your Vehicle Safer

Warning systems on our vehicles make our cars safer and easier to maintain. The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is one of those warning systems that has been on vehicles for the last 10 years, and it has made it easier to maintain proper air pressure in our tires. But what, exactly, causes the TPMS to light up on the dashboard?

As the season's change, the pressure in your tires gets higher or lower; as the temperature gets hotter, the air in your tires expand, and as the temperature gets colder, the air contracts. This can cause your air pressure to fluctuate. Another reason that your tires can lose air pressure is that your tires naturally lose air over time.

If you are concerned about the pressure of your tires, come to our service center at Boyd Cars of Virginia. We'll be happy to get your tire pressure into a safe operating zone.
